Georgia Health Connect

Governance

Georgia Health Connect (GaHC) is a health information network designed to provide integrative technology and clinical support services for the needs of smaller practices, hospitals and health systems. The focus of Georgia Health Connect is to target current provider members of the Georgia Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center (GA-HITEC). GaHC seeks to support providers and hospitals who desire a more equitable, user friendly technological support to make their practices competitive in our evolving health care market of PCMHs and ACOs.  Though GaHC is designed to support this niche of healthcare organizations, all providers and hospitals throughout the state who seek a simple, yet comprehensive solution for connectivity to the Georgia Health Information Network (GaHIN) are invited to be a part of GaHC.

Georgia Health Connect (GaHC) is a mission-based Service Area Health Information Exchange created by The National Center for Primary Care (NCPC) at Morehouse School of Medicine, doing business as GA-HITEC, in partnership with Liaison Technologies. GA-HITEC was established within the NCPC at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) and was awarded over $20 million by the Office of National Coordinator in 2009 to furnish technical support to over 4000 of Georgia’s healthcare providers and 56 Rural and Critical Access Hospitals (CAH). During the lifetime of the program, support has been delivered to assist providers and CAH’s to select, successfully implement, and meaningfully use certified Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to improve clinical outcomes and the quality of care provided to their patients.
